Coconut Grove Crisis Food Pantry Fundraiser, May 22, 2025

The Women’s Club of Coconut Grove in Partnership with the Rotary Club of Coconut Grove will be hosted their 3rd annual Goombay Party benefiting the Coconut Grove Food Crisis Pantry on May 22.

Family Fun Day, May 24, 2025

 May 24th was Family Fun Day at Esther Mae Armbrister Park. Participants enjoyed Junkanoo performances, BBQ, music and arts and crafts. Rack’z BBQ won the barbeque coookoff 

Documenting Goombay and Little Bahamas of Coconut Grove Exhibition, June 1 and June 7, 2025

The Wolfsonian Public Humanities Lab at FIU, in partnership with the Sanctuary of the Arts at St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church and Miami Dade College Gibson Center will be organized an exhibition of photographs titled “Documenting Goombay and Little Bahamas of Coconut Grove”. The photos were on display at 136 Frow Avenue, Coral Gables on June 1, from 1pm to 5pm. HistoryMiami Museum joined us to gather stories. The exhibition continued at the Miami Dade College Gibson Center on June 7 during the Miami Goombay Festival.

Community Collections Grant Symposium at the Library of Congress

On September 24, Dr. Aarti Mehta-Kroll and Dr. Rebecca Friedman will do a presentation about their project: Documenting Goombay and Little Bahamas of Coconut Grove in the Mumford Room (LM-649), located on the 6th floor of the James Madison Building of the Library of Congress in Washington, DC.
